Background

What is it?

The adolescent years are the ideal age to explore different passions, some of which can change the course of one’s life. Proper sports, such as football, tennis, basketball often remain inaccessible to most children. The token PE period and Annual Day Games aside, schools often cannot invest enough time and resources to help every child gain mastery over a sport. Last Man Standing is a dedicated project to this goal: helping children learn how to properly play football, and consequently play in a league.

Why is it important?

Sports like football can contribute immensely to the development of children, in ways like:

  • Physical fitness: regular physical activity as encouraged by football builds stamina and improves the immune system

  • It improves cognitive and motor skills. Regular play instills discipline and setting goals to meet.

  • It inculcates the spirit of teamwork and leadership

  • It teaches commitment and responsibility: team sports like football means that you are responsible not only for yourself, but also your teammates

  • Adolescence can be a time of emotional turmoil for many: intensive sports such as football helps to release emotional energy and to deal with negative feelings in a healthy and productive manner
